Last week I was lucky enough to attend an afternoon workshop with the gorgeous Rachel Gadiel and the ah-mazing Julie Parker, aptly titled Dream, Create, Do and just quietly, I loved it. You would think, being a coach myself, it may have been a little familiar, a little I have heard this before, a little same, same, but in truth, it totally wasn’t.
The part of the workshop I want to cover in this post is the very beginning (a very good place to start…) because more often than not, we skip that! I know I did! It was titled: Who are you?
We are so ready, so chomping at the bit to get started on something, anything – that we don’t always stop to consider what truly makes us happy (and who we are!) We assume that living a more inspired life is quitting our day job, leaving our partner or skipping the country! Basically the old grass is greener premise (which as most of us know, in most cases, it most certainly isn’t!).
Sometimes we need to look a little closer to home, what already sparks joy within us and how we can use that to our creative advantage. These simple questions are beautiful, simple and powerful all at once and may give you a little nod to where to start channelling some of that creative energy that is bursting to get out!
So grab a pen or open a word doc and get ready to start uncovering just a little.
+ What is your favourite section of the bookstore?
+ What are you passionate about?
+ What do people thank you for?
+ What makes you happiest in life?
+ If you were to wake up tomorrow feeling truly free an excited about your day ahead, what would you be doing? Describe your day in detail.
They seem like simple questions (because they are) but they are totally worth thinking about.
Now this is only the beginning! What is one thing you can do today that sparks a little passion and ignites your creativity? And more importantly, will you commit to doing it? I would love to hear from you in the comments below.
Much love, em x
